Let me introduce myself. My name is Bill Downs and it is mostly about me. I use 'us' because my wife helps out and I do have a couple of associates who assist me from time to time. But for right now, the business is mostly myself. I consider myself a programmer, but I have a very strong artistic streak too.
I am a graduate of Bradley University in Peoria, IL. and I have a B.S. in Engineering. While there I specialized in computers. While there, besides learning UNIX, I studied Fortran, various assembly languages, and other computer oriented subjects. Through my work experience, I have become familiar with many aspects of computers and database management. Several years back, I learned HTML and published my first page on the net. Soon, other people were asking me for help putting up pages on the internet. Finally, a local business requested my services to put up a commercial site complete with shopping cart and credit card ordering. Well, one thing led to another and here I am today.
In January, 2001, I felt it was time to make it a full time business. I'm combining my web design experience with my other computer talents and offering them to local businesses. Although the web design seems to be what is in demand right now, I am skilled at creating databases from scratch. For one of my previous employers, I set up an entire employee database using Microsoft Access for over 500 employees. This included benefits, corporate structure, absenteeism and all other aspects of employee record keeping. I've done many other databases including client contact lists, employee information, inventory, etc.
